| Recertification | Due to differing stabilities of various biomarkers in this complex biological material it is not possible to assign a single expiration date that is relevant to all biomarkers. The end user should monitor the biomarkers of interest to verify suitability over time. |
| Infectious Disease Testing | Not tested for infectious diseases. Specimens should be manipulated in BSL-2 facilities following BSL-3 practices. Manipulations of untreated specimens should be conducted in a biological safety cabinet (BSC). In the rare event that a procedure cannot be conducted in a BSC, gloves, gown, eye protection, and NIOSH approved respiratory protection should be used. All personnel who use respiratory protective devices should be enrolled in an appropriately constituted respiratory protection program. Work surfaces should be decontaminated upon completion of work with appropriate disinfectants. All waste must be decontaminated prior to disposal. Laboratories performing work with known or suspected positive specimens should consult Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories, 5th Edition, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2009) for occupational health considerations and additional guidance |
