Product Details | Complement C3 is synthesized as a single chain of 185 kDa and is processed in the plasma to a disulfide-linked heterodimer consisting of an α-chain (115 kDa) and a β-chain (70 kDa). During complement activation, C3 is cleaved by C3 convertases to C3a (9 kDa) and C3b (176 kDa) comprised of the large C-terminal portion of the α-chain and the β-chain. Factor I further cleaves C3b into C3c (140 kDa), C3d (35 kDa), and C3g (7 kDa). The current protocol yields C3c, however intact C3 and/or C3a/C3b may be co-purified. |
