Cell Culture Grade Recombinant Human Lactoferrin: Recombinant Lactoferrin has been shown to enhance the growth of many cell types including intestinal cells, hybrioma cells, HEK, 3TC and osteoblasts. Our product's ability to enhance protein production has been tested in hybridoma and CHO cell lines. The optimum concentration for cell culture varies with the cell line.
Reported effective concentrations for hybridoma cell lines range from 4-500 mg/L. HEK 293, 100-200mg/L. CHO 250-750 mg/L. Other cell lines such as osteoblasts, show effective growth stimulation at concentrations below 1m/liter.
A Cell Culture Growth Factor: Lactoferrin can be added to cell culture media to promote cell growth, improve doubling times, increase cell viability and increase protein production.
An Iron Chelator: Lactoferrin has been used to deliver iron for certain cell culture applications.
A Vaccine Additive: Lactoferrin is sometimes used as an adjuvant for certain vaccines.
Human Health: Lactoferrin has several human health applications, including incorporation in clinical nutrition products, cosmetics, wound care formulations, infant formula and oral hygiene products.
